President's Message

Greetings from the President!

At WEAVEonline, we take great pride in helping our members achieve their goals in assessment and planning through the use of our software and through collaboration with our assessment professionals and other members of the WEAVEonline community.

Have you ever had the opportunity to build a house? If so, then you likely worked with an architect to create a set of blueprints. The top page always shows a pretty picture of what the outside of the house will look like after construction. Inside, each different page will have details for a different system: the foundation, the electrical, the plumbing, blow-ups of the cabinetry etc.

These different systems are like the improvement processes underway at your institution. Perhaps you have a strategic plan, general education assessment, program reviews, etc. All of these processes contribute to the institutional effectiveness of your university.

However, the key is how these improvement processes work together. It’s great to have plumbing, but you want to make sure that the pipe for the second floor bathroom doesn’t go through the middle of the living room. Or that the furnace doesn’t reside in the dining room. And of course, after you have the major sytems in place in a way that creates an integrated whole, you can begin to design beyond mere functionality. Architectural elements can be added that enhance your enjoyment of the space. For instance, you might want to have two sources of natural light in every room, to have a view across a room that is unbroken by a pillar, or to have the doorways in alignment with the staircases.

WEAVEonline allows you to build a rock solid house where all of the improvement processes support each other in an integrated whole, including strategic planning, assessment, accreditation or budgeting.

We welcome your input and participation as we grow and develop our work. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with ideas, comments, and suggestions.

Thank you!
